One of the early martyrs of the India-Pakistan war 1999, Major Adhikari led his men in the face of intense enemy fire and helped recapture strategic posts in Tololing. His story is one of dedication and heroism.

4. Rifleman Sanjay Kumar—The Lone Charger

He charged enemy bunkers alone under heavy gunfire during the capture of Point 4875. Even after being shot, he refused to back down. His courage earned him the Param Vir Chakra and a place in our hearts forever.

5. Lieutenant Balwan Singh—The Tiger of Tiger Hill

Only 22 years old, Lt. Singh led the Ghatak platoon to capture Tiger Hill, an operation crucial to the war. Under adverse conditions, his tactical mind and bravery made the mission successful.

6. Captain Anuj Nayyar—The Calm in Chaos

A natural leader, Capt. Nayyar played a vital role in recapturing Pimple II post. He destroyed multiple bunkers before a mortar shell claimed his life. His story is often shared during Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations.

7. Major Vivek Gupta – Courage Under Fire

Leading the 2nd Rajputana Rifles, Major Gupta faced intense enemy fire at Tololing. Despite heavy odds, his strategy helped regain control, though he paid with his life. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously.

8. Naik Digendra Kumar – Gunfire Warrior

Surviving over 18 gunshots, Kumar led a critical assault at Tololing. His unyielding spirit helped his unit seize enemy positions, proving the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army heroes.

9. Lieutenant Keishing Clifford Nongrum—Northeast’s Pride

From Meghalaya, Lt. Nongrum fought with valour at Point 4812. Despite sustaining severe injuries, he held the line until reinforcements arrived. His name is etched in gold among the legends of the Kargil War.

10. Captain N. Kenguruse – The Barefoot Hero

From Nagaland, Capt. Kenguruse climbed barefoot up a frozen cliff to surprise the enemy. Injured, he continued the assault, eliminating enemies before being fatally hit. He’s remembered as a symbol of raw courage.
